County Fair
More details about beer, cider, wine, and mead judging for Montrose County Fair will be coming. Generally, there will be at least one drop off point in July, entries will be a dollar, and we’ll be using the BJCP 2021 style guide during judging. We’ll need volunteers to judge and steward. This will be a great time to learn about beer and beer styles you don’t normally consume. So please join us. Judging will be on Wednesday, July 25 at Montrose County Event Center (time to be announced). The address is 1036 N 7th St. The best place to park is south of the Event Center north of N. Pythian Ave.
Next Meeting
The next meeting will once again be at Pomona Brewery on June 22nd at 6:00 PM. Yes, I know that’s the fourth Thursday of June but I have a previous commitment on the third Thursday. We’ll have lots to discuss and decide – for instance, proposed changes to the Constitution. We’ll possibly also have a presentation on Kvass – one of the easiest alcoholic beverages to make. If you have any brews you’d like to share, please bring them along.
SMaSH updates
Our friends at Bookcliffs will conduct the judging on June 25th. The Awards Ceremony will be at Stoik Brewery on Saturday, July 29 at 3:00 PM. Stoik’s address is 1064 Main Street, Delta. I know it’s a long time between judging and the ceremony, but that’s how the schedules worked out. This will be a great time to get to know other brewers and all-around great folks from Bookcliffs. This event is open to our entire club, so please come if you can. We’ll talk about carpool options at our next meeting.
Big Brew Day
On June 1 we picked a winner! Casey’s version of Nearly Nirvana will be going on the regionals. Congratulations Casey and well done. The entries will be delivered to Loveland soon for further judging.
Constitution
I’ve sent out the Constitution in an earlier email. I’m attaching it here in case you missed it. It’s a PDF showing my proposed edits using track changes. There aren’t too many changes and I don’t think I’m proposing much that’s controversial. Mostly, it’s just to help the process of acquiring 501(c)(3) status. Please read it and let me know what you think or any other changes you’d like to propose.
