Montrose County Fair
The Fair will run from July 21 to the 29th. Beer judging will be on Wednesday, July 26 at 6:00 PM at the Montrose Event Center (1036 North Seventh Street – the best place to park is south of the Event Center and north of North Pythian Avenue). If you would like to enter your beer, wine, cider, or mead, entries will be due on Monday, July 24th.
Drop off locations include Friendship Hall, the Hoovers’ place, or David’s place. All entries will be $1 and please submit two bottles. Fill out this entry form plus this bottle form. If you can’t print them out, there will be blanks at the Hoovers’ and my place. We will be using the 2021 BJCP Style Guide so please make sure you find the right style code. Please rubber band the bottle forms to each bottle; tape doesn’t seem to work too well on cold glass with condensation.
We need stewards and judges. If you would like to help out, please come to the Event Center. This is a great opportunity to learn about beer and beer judging and how the whole process works.
Next Meeting
Carle and Andrea have offered to host our next meeting which will be Wednesday, July 19 at 6:00 PM. We will discuss even more details about the County Fair, Big Brew Day Results, SMaSH Awards, and more. Then, I’ll introduce the Kentucky Common Beer Style. If you have libations, please bring them to share!
SMaSH Awards at Stoik
Doesn’t the SMaSH competition seem like a long time ago? I know it does to me. Bookcliffs ran the judging and will be announcing the winners at the Awards Ceremony at Stoik Brewery on Saturday, July 29 at 3:00 PM. Stoik’s address is 1064 Main Street, Delta. This brewery happens to be about halfway between Bookcliffs and Black Canyon. Even if you didn’t enter the competition, this will be a great time to meet other homebrewers and have great beers at Stoik. Hope to see you there!
