Anyone???
Doing 3 transfers in a session gets a little clustered in the kitchen - I had just transferred a Coconut Mead (much coconut left in the carboy) and was cleaning it out, shaking it over the sink getting the 1 lb of coconut out. The Good Earth Mead was next to the sink in the carboy. I shook a little toooooo far out from the sink, kissed the Good Earth Mead's carboy just below the curve of the glass. Holy sh*t.....It had a nice star the size of a half dime, spider cracks going out (3 legs) about 4 to 8 inches. The carboy glass held, but the mead was starting to leak out. Luckily I had a 5 gal carboy sanitized ready to go. I jumped into hyperdrive & got the racking cane, tube, the empty sanitized carboy rinsed; flooded the carboy nitrogen (no CO2 in reach) & started the transfer in about 2 seconds. I was just hoping the integrity of the cracked carboy would hold until the mead was transferred. Down one carboy, but glad it was not a 5 gallon sweet sticky mead on the counter & floor to clean...
