SHOWDOWN at the County Fair
A Czech proverb states “A fine beer may be judged with only one sip, but it’s better to be thoroughly sure...”this was displayed with passion by the judges at the 26th annual Montrose County
Fair July 23rd, 2007.
Amassing like a great battle-hungry hoard, BCBA members beat drums, waived flags
and entered their brew for judging at establishing the rights of infamy. The
following brews have been judged and scored as follows –
Roaring Fork HAMs (High Altitude Mashers) CRUSHED The BCHA bet the Grand
Junction Homebrew Club / Roaring Fork HAMs (High Altitude Mashers – Glenwood Springs, Basalt and Silt) for bragging rights and despite the
admirable showing of Tom and Doug, our hometown heroes would indeed crush these
boys. This has produced a fitted package full of lacy unmentionables from
Victoria’s Secret inbound to Grand Junction for Cody, Jeremy, Michael and Tom. Wear them
with pride Junction boys! (See page 2 of the the
July Brewsletter PDF for the full figured photos)
Showing the love – more of it this year
Two complaints to the Fair Board were offered during the event, one involving a
liquor license issue and one question offering – why is everyone so focused on the little beer event?
Last year’s event received three complaints. This year’s received six complements to the Fair Board, five directly to the board, one
online.
Good publicity, making beauty in the eye of the beer holder, or Daily Press
reader... ”Brewing the Best, locals to compete in fair's contest” July 19, 2007 – Good article promoting the event and competition - Eric and Carle look suave as
always!
Judges, local and visiting, and of course the stewards! Your support was greatly
appreciated, without you the event couldn’t have happened. Of course for most judges, the best beer in the world is the
open bottle in your hand! See you next year!
